Salento, my Salento. This has been one of the highlights of our trip indeed. Salento is right in the middle of the Zona Cafeteira and everything is really tranquilo. There you have an amazing green surrounding, the friendliest people, colorful houses, nice food and also a perfect Hostel. See what we did there:
- Hostal Tralala: We heard about this place before and our stay couldn’t have been more perfect. The Hostal is beautiful and managed with love. They will arrange everything you need starting with horseback riding or providing you with good coffee. Can’t recommend this place enough!
- Bosques de Cocora: Starting at the central market, trucks are leaving to the close parque. The scenery is breathtaking and I do recommend to take the walk and just enjoy the beautiful nature
- Brunch de Salento: This place was recommended to us and we went there on our last day as we heard that they have good breakfast. Let me tell you that this was no lie. We found some vegan and vegetarian options but underestimated the sizes of the plates. Good for us that this day we just had to hop on the bus to Bogotá and sleep for some hours more..
Tour de la Finca Cafetera Don Elias: Our Hostel recommended to take a tour at this farm as it’s much smaller than the big industrial ones you can also pay a visit. We didn’t regret our choice. We went there by horse which was a beautiful route and Don Elias took a lot of time to explain his organic coffee farm. You can buy coffee there which was a perfect gift back home
